What Makes a PHEV Different to Service

Engine oil and filter
The petrol or diesel engine still needs regular oil changes. In many PHEVs, the engine runs less frequently than in a conventional car, which can actually lead to moisture and fuel contamination in the oil over time. Staying on top of this is important.
High-voltage battery inspection
We assess the condition and capacity of the traction battery, including thermal management and charging behaviour. Catching early degradation saves money in the long run.
Brake system service
Like full EVs, PHEVs use regenerative braking. The physical brakes are used less, which means they can corrode or seize without warning. We inspect and service the full braking system, not just what’s visible.
12V auxiliary battery
PHEVs carry a small 12V battery that runs the vehicle’s electronics and accessories. It’s separate from the main traction battery and needs to be tested and replaced when necessary.
Coolant and thermal systems
Most PHEVs use liquid cooling for both the battery and the engine. We check all coolant levels, condition, and the integrity of the thermal management circuits.
Air filters — cabin and engine
Both filters are checked and replaced as needed. The cabin filter is particularly relevant in PHEVs because the climate control system works harder when the vehicle is running in electric mode.
